Alert Preferences

The Alerts Preferences allow you to define actions that are taken taken when an incoming packet matches a set of predicate expressions.

QTH.app comes preloaded with several example alerts. All but one are disabled. You may delete the examples if you would like.

The Station Emergency implements the standard emergency alert functionality that APRS clients should implement. It can be modified or disabled if you wish, though.

Predicate Expressions

• Not heard before: True if the packet is from a station that has not been heard before
• Supports messaging: True if the packet indicates that the station supports messages
• Has weather report: True if the packet contains a weather report
• Triggered a geofence: True if the packet has interacted with an area object marked as a geofence
• Data type is : Select the APRS data type to match
• Classification is :
  • unsupported : True when the packet is one that QTH.app does not support. An example would be a Maidenhead beacon.
  • station : True if the packet is classified as a regular station
  • object : True if the packet is classified as an object
  • message : True if the packet is classified as a message
  • query : True if the packet is classified as a query
• scope is : Match the desired scope
• Mic-E status is : Match the selected status
• symbol is : Match the selected symbol
• speed : Compare the packet’s speed to the supplied value
• course : Compare the packet’s course to the supplied value
• range : Compare the packet’s radio range to the supplied value
• altitude : Compare the packet’s altitude to the supplied value
• proximity : Compare the packet’s proximity to your station to the supplied value. Requires a location for the local station.
• Source callsign : String matching for the source callsign
• ToCall : String matching for the destination callign (TOCALL)
• Comment : String matching for the packet’s comment
• Object Name : String matching for the packet’s comment

Actions

• Send Notification : When selected, an alert will be sent to the macOS Notification Center
  • The text of the notification will be the name of the alert
• Pan map to station : When selected, an alert will pan active map window to the station that triggered the alert
• Animate of map : When selected, animated circles will radiate from thet station that triggered the alert
• Play sound : When selected, the alert will play the chosen alert sound
• Speak text : When selected, the alert will use the macOS speech services to speak the text. Voice settings can be changed in System Preferences → Accessibility → Speech
